Was playing 5/10 on cake poker and was sitting with K K, opponent bet $100.00 and I raised, he re-raised $300.00 and I called.
Flop came out K K 8. Obviously at this point I was quite happy with how things were, so when the opponent bet $500.00 I went all in.

He then went all in and revealed A A... so we had my set of kings against his one pair of aces and a solitary 8.

    Then came the turn..... A

yep you guessed it....then came the river....... another bloody A

    My hand K K K K
    Opponent A A A A

    My loss $1850.00

    B A D B E A T Sad

Cake Poker BAD BEAT Empty YEs..... AA

Post  ChrisChilipoker Wed May 27, 2009 4:09 pm

Of course we all have an AA story, all as bad as each other.

But this one hurt soooo much.

At the time, about 4 years ago, I was playing for a living but not playing with enough bankroll to maintain it. So I am on a huuge downswing from $12,000 and I am playing with my last $1000. And this is the LAST $1000 I own, playing $5/10.
Over the session I go right down to $100, then get back up to the original $1000 within about 2 hours.

So me and the only other guy with a full buyin make a Chat Pact. We tell each other we won't get involved with each other unless we have monsters ( I know this is unethical, but it made sense at the time).
SO an hour in he raises $40. Making sure he knows im not pissing about I re-raise $100, he re-raises another $100 so I go allin, making it pretty obvious what i have - AA. He says in chat: 'that's not nice.' I say 'It is', giving my hand away even more.
So finally, he CALLS with JJ.
    Flop: 48J - x - x.

I have never fully got back on the horse. But the lesson I guess is that bankroll managment saves these things hurting quite that much.

    Smile Chris
